Accompaniment: Trio Mutual
1922, Director: Teuvo Puro
Aleksis Kivi’s folk comedy has been filmed three times. The first, produced in Viipuri, (1920) has perhaps been lost forever, and this second production by Suomi-Filmi hasn’t been seen anywhere for about 90 years. We will now be showing it as a special screening at our festival. Kraatari Aapeli (A Tailor) and Herrojen Eeva (A House keeper for rich men) get engaged, but their day doesn’t go as planned, as they have an irreversible row before the celebrations began. Before the screening, Kari Glödstaf, who took part in the film’s reconstruction, will explain what happened during the process.
2018, Director: Manu Kerola
This short film directed by Manu Kerola, tells an old ghost story from Kokkola about two men and a woman when one of them mystically disappears whilst trying to buy illegal alcohol. Originally shot in black and white on 8mm film, the Maiden From Harrbåd is the latest film production from Kerola, who made a festival appearance last year.
